Earlier today, I got a chance to see Marvel Studios' Iron Man 3. It was indeed a ride worth taking, as viewers got a chance to see Robert Downey, Jr.'s Tony Stark character take a turn for the worse. Stark experiences Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD, which is the direct result of his saving the world from alien invaders in the first of many Avengers movies.
But that is not what makes this film so special. We witness the birth of AIM, or Advanced Ideas Mechanics, and the insertion of the Extremis storyline. If you are a fan of the Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes animated TV series like me (Yeah, I'm a grown man who watches cartoons), you realize that AIM is SHIELD's (Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division) Achilles heel. I didn't know much about the Extremis storyline prior to viewing this film, but I'll probably be logging on to Netflix tonight to watch the animated Iron Man: Extremis film.
Because I'm not the kind of guy who spoils things for moviegoers on opening day, I'm going to shut this post down. Just know that I really enjoyed this film because it was filled with surprises. And I encourage you to stay through the credits, so you'll be properly prepped for Avengers 2. Let's face it: That's how Marvel Studios rolls. But once the film has been out for a few weeks, I'll include a few spoilers.
Two thumbs up for Iron Man 3. Check it out.
